The Yoga Therapy Process

=

Intake

During the intake session, you and your yoga therapist discuss your health history and lifestyle and develop a treatment plan. 60-90 minutes in duration to give you plenty of time to ask questions.

=

Sessions

At your first working session, learn specialized yoga practices adapted for you and get your questions answered. Subsequent sessions are typically spaced two weeks apart so you have time to develop consistency in your home practice. At each session, your yoga therapist tracks the effectiveness of practices for your condition. 45-60 minutes in duration.

=

Home Practice

Home practice between sessions is key in yoga therapy. Your yoga therapist may provide you visual aids or audio and video recordings of your practice, so you can follow along at home. Practices are short and individualized for you.

“I met with Christine late last year and earlier this year to develop a program for me. I had a serious accident from 54 years ago that left me with a partially frozen left ankle which led to a twist in my spine (L3 impingement) along with the arthritis which accompanied this trauma. Christine was very attentive and supportive to my needs.”

Sara takes special care to make sure you are comfortable at all times and will never give you less than 100% of her attention and effort. The reality is diseases and conditions change and unfortunately, standard treatment plans and therapies are not always adaptive. You can rest assured that no matter the change in health or symptoms, you will be listened to, evaluated, and with plenty of personal input you will both make a plan to rectify whatever you are working with. E.A. Yoga Therapy Client

“Sara was a wonderful therapist. She was kind and listened. She suggested other therapies where needed (i.e. counseling) and gave me practices that really resonated with me and ultimately led to me changing some major things in my life for the better.

The outcome was unexpected and healing took place in a way that I could not have imagined.”

“[Christine] takes the time to really listen and understand what is going on and built a practice to specifically address my autoimmune condition. Our sessions in person were restorative and enjoyable. I have a lot of tools to use on my own, but also look forward to working with Christine in the future as my needs change.”

Meg Teape
Yoga Therapy Client

“Christine was a great (and unexpected resource) for me. I’m hoping to achieve a natural birth and she provided real tools that I expect to use throughout my birth to relax and cope.

I truly believe that I experienced less pain and more relaxation throughout the end of the third trimester as a result of my sessions with Christine.”

C.
Prenatal Yoga Therapy Client

“I have high blood pressure and I wanted to do more than the doctor’s recommendation for traditional medications that did not work as well as I was hoping.

My experience with [Yoga Therapy Associates] was above my expectations. You were professional, helpful, honest, and gave me great tools to help me bring my blood pressure down. This was a great experience, one that I will take with me for a long time.”

B.
Yoga Therapy Client

We started with a one-hour evaluation and I was impressed with [Sara’s] professionalism and thorough information gathering about my condition, my needs and my goals. I also had the opportunity to ask her questions about her training and experience which she was very willing to answer thoroughly.

Her therapeutic approach has included yoga poses that are specific to the needs of my body. She is very adept at making the proper accommodations where needed. She sends me a video where she demonstrates the yoga poses so I can practice on my own. I recommend her highly.
